TRACHYCARPUS FORTUNEI
In English Windmill palm or Chinese windmill palm or chusan palm.
Common name: Chamaerops excelsa. Palm tree with rather short palmate leaves and a solitary trunk, unique up to approximately 12 - 15 meters high and 20 cm in diameter, it is fine and slender, partially covered by a kind of burlap with brown fibers (it is a very hairy trunk). The edges of the blade are finely serrated, only noticeable to the touch, and does not puncture. Very rustic. It thrives wonderfully in warm coastal areas, but it is also one of the most cold and snow resistant palm trees, since in its regions of origin it even lives in the Himalayan mountains at an altitude of 2400 meters, being able to withstand frosts down to 9º below zero.
